The Christmas Ship

The U S Coast Guard Cutter Mackinaw is in Chicago for a reenactment of "The Christmas Ship" in celebration of the memory of Herman Schuenemann, Captain of the Rouse Simmons, aka the "The Christmas Ship". Capt Shuenemann and his crew were lost at sea off the coast near Two Rivers Wisconsin during a winter storm. Today, the Coast Guard get trees and brings them to Chicago to be handed out to social service agencies where they are given out to needy families. The true spirit of Christmas
