What can I say, Springfield, with all of it's troubles, is home. As much as I complain about this or that, it will always be home. Most all of our families are here, and I do not think I could ever permanently leave

So, with an introduction like that, one may wonder if Springfield is worth bothering with. I say it is, especially if you are a history buff. Home to Abraham Lincoln, the town is filled with historical sites and artifacts related to ole Honest Abe. Oak Ridge Cemetery,  Lincoln's Home, the Old State Capitol are just a few of the hugely popular historic sites in town for folks to take in.

Besides Honest Abe, the town is also full of spectacular architecture, the many old school churches that are scattered throughout town, historic homes, The Thomas Rees Carillon  in Washington Park, Lincoln's Tomb in Oak Ridge Cemetery, the old, now restored entrance to Oak Ridge, and the Dana Thomas House all offer the architectural fans and this history buff more than their share of things to see and visit in Springfield. This list is not complete by any stretch of the imagination, it is a starting point for your visit, you will find out that there is much more.

No, for all of it's problems, Springfield is still a great city to visit and if you are not from the area, I encourage you to come on in to town and stay awhile, I am sure you will enjoy your stay.
